What is BMI Magnusassar.com

BMI stands for Body Mass Index.

Body Mass Index is a persons weight in kilograms divided by the square of height in meters. The calculation indicates the persons weigh status like this:

BMI                          Weight Status

Below  18.5            Underweight

18.5 – 24.9             Healthy

25.0 – 29.9             Overweight

30.0 – and Above     Obese

At a closer look the formula for BMI have similarities with the formula for density. BMI actually is a calculation of a persons density. But a miss calculation.

Density is the mass of something divided by its volume. For example: cotton have lower density than iron. A square meter of cotton is lighter weight than a square meter of iron. A decided volume of something with lower density weigh lesser than the same volume of something else with a higher density.

So the BMI is a miss calculation of a persons density(?) that give us: How much does a given volume of a persons body weight? Is that interesting..in ANY way? And in the BMI calculation the volume of the person is..the persons hight(?) How could hight = volume for a person? Thats just stupid. Its not even worth explain why. Well ok I explain anyway if any BMI:ers are reading: People look different. Ok? The BMI inventors obviously did not know that. So they are stupid. This means that one of the two factors in the BMI calculations is worthless.

The second factor in the BMI calculation is a persons weight. The weight of a person could be interesting in the case of training and diet if we know what that person weight is consisting of. Is the weight body fat or muscles or both or something else? But this is not even mentioned in the BMI calculation. AT ALL!! The weight alone is only interesting if we actually WANT to know the persons density. But why on earth would a persons density be interesting? If the persons density is higher than water the person will sink an therefore the person is a witch? Or what? (Isn’t that from Monthy Pyton movie? Is thats where BMI originally came from? The Monthy Pytons? It make sens actually..) This means that the second of the two factors in the BMI calculations is also worthless.

Arnold Schwarzenegger was a bodybuilder who in the 1970´s gained a lots of lean muscles and his body fat was very low. Because of his muscle mass his body weight was high. He was heavy because his lean muscles carrying a lot of weight. Therefore his BMI was a lot above 30, so his BMI weight status was ”Obese”. Thats the same thing as ”overweight” or ”very fat”. Anyone who have seen pictures or movies with Arnold Schwarzenegger from the 70´s, 80´s or 90´s can easy say that ”Obese” was NOT a word who described Arnold Schwarzeneggers ”weigh status” by that time. ”Obese” is pretty far from what Arnold Schwarzeneggers ”weigh status” represented.

We have now decleared that both of the two factors in the BMI calculation are worthless, and the answer the calculation is giving us giving is crap.

How can I use BMI to become a healthier person? How could BMI help me or give me guidelines in my training or diet? In what way is BMI interesting? How can I use the BMI information in my ambition to build lean muscle mass and burn body fat?

I´m sorry but I have NO answers to ANY of those questions. Well…I do but they contains long and terrible lines of bad, bad language. Very bad..

Let me put it this way: Do NOT use Body Mass Index BMI. Don’t calculate it. Don’t care about it at all. It´s just crap. It´s just garbage. It´s just stupid. Pretend that it never existed. Act like you never heard about it. If somebody mentions BMI – just pretend you didn’t hear and act like the person not existing anymore and firmly push the person far, far away from your social circle because that person is an complete idiot. Order everybody to do the same. Use a mirror. Or just don’t care about stupidities like BMI and lift some heavy weights, do some cardio and just enjoy getting in good shape instead
